I did some experimenting with my small Canon camera on the plane as I look out the window. For the most part, the window was fogged over, lighting was a trick, but I decided to see what I could do. I was surprised to see I got some nice pictures. What I had to do to get the clarity better is darken, add contrast, then just a touch of sharpening, and a dash of light.
I think it was a great experiment and know when I go next year I will dedicate a card to just these type of shots.

Great job Frank - You can get some decent images from commercial airliners. Play with the angle that you hold your camera at in relationship to the window glass and you can reduce/eliminate reflections and often get some really impressive results - Good Luck!
