Today is National Aviation Day - Honoring the anniversary of Orville Wright’s birthday (and never forgetting those who wear the uniform) - We have come a long way since that first flight near Kitty Hawk in 1903. I captured this F-16C just off from the north "hammerhead" of the runway as the pilot returned from the range -

Configuration: Equipped for an attack mission through heavily congested/defended airspace - This aircraft is loaded with both "Air to Air" and "Air to Ground" weapons along with 2, 370 gallon, external fuel tanks for extended range capabilities. *The triple ejector racks (TER) on stations 3 & 7 are empty after dispensing air to ground ordnance at simulated targets. The F-16 Viper performs a multi-role, very versatile function, allowing for both offensive and defensive measures simultaneously.
