Thanks very much for commenting, Tiia, Patrick, Nadia, and Bill.
I forgot to mention the fossilized leaf in the center of the closeup. Per an expert/geologist,"At least two species of fossilized leaves are fairly common at the (Getty Museum), evidence of a lakeside environment at the time of the stone's formation."

Ooo! I get to be the first to know that is a fossil there! Neato! When Dale was a little boy he used to chip away at rock and he found lots of cool things up here in Canada. We live not far from the second largest Dinosaur find in the entire world! Sadly he and his family moved a lot and his mom threw out all of his boxes of rocks over time. Makes my stomach sick thinking about that as they are really priceless gems in my book! This is a fascinating image and reminds me of giant coral in a way. Great find! -Pommy :)

What fascination a piece of rock can contain!
To me it looked like someone had taken a piece of the rock with a spoon when it was clay.
I have to admit I don't know a whole lot about rocks.
But I do know that you captured every little detail with perfection here, Mary.
