At the same time, we are also looking forward to our next online course session, with a terrific lineup of 4-week courses.
In this issue of Digital Darkroom, don't miss "Raw vs. JPEG" by Rob Sheppard, "Get Creative with Photoshop Plug-ins" by Deborah Sandidge, and a fine collection of photo discussions.

| Each month, the best Before and After will be featured in the Digital Darkroom. To participate, upload a Before (original) picture then start a discussion on it (using the Discuss This Photo link under the picture). After telling us how you did created the effect, select "1" or "2" from the Upload Image pull-down menu, and submit an optional intermediate image and a final (After) photo. Aim to educate and inspire by sharing a concise, detailed explanation of your technique. Enjoy! |

New Photo Discussions
New Photo Discussion 1: Heaven Help Me
- Kathy Coombs See Kathy's Basic BetterPholio™ Response 1:Yes, it is me. I placed my camera on the tripod and had it fire off five shots of me at verious exposures so I could do this in HDR. I couldn't move for a long time because the last two were at about 10 and 15 seconds each. I took this at the Philadelphia Eastern State Prison. Thanks for commenting on this picture and the Bamberg picture. - Ken Falls See Ken's Basic BetterPholio™ Response 2:I really want to learn HDR. This image is timeless. The light really is amazing.. - Kathy Coombs See Kathy's Basic BetterPholio™ Response 3:HDR isn't so tough. Just put your camera on the bracketing feature and shoot of three images of 1 stop each. If you have Photoshop, it will do HDR. Or you can try Photomatix as I feel that is the best program. HDR is tough in one aspect: I either love the image or I hate it. No middle ground on it. So have fun. - Ken Falls See Ken's Basic BetterPholio™ Read this discussion online Respond to this discussion | |
| New Photo Discussion 2: Mosque of Suleyman the Magnificent your class, and improving my creativity. - Julia B. Currie See Julia's Basic BetterPholio™ Response 1:Hi Julia, This is a composite photo in which I put the rainbow behind the mosque. However, the rainbow was taken from my driveway in Tennessee, and it was the most intense rainbow I've ever seen. I couldn't believe it. I did not tweak the rainbow itself - it was really like that! It's a pleasure to have you in my course. I hope you find it valuable.
