Featured Article: Studio Lighting After-the-Fact ... in Photoshop!
"It’s impossible to carry studio lighting with me as I travel," says pro instructor Jim Zuckerman. "But Photoshop has an excellent lighting effects dialog box that allows me to simulate studio lighting after-the-fact, and it’s quite realistic." Jim, by the way, teaches Creative Techniques in Photoshop and Advanced Creative Techniques in Photoshop here at BetterPhoto. Read his article ...

Spectacular!!! How did you come up with the image mirrored?
- Symona R. Wood

Response 1:Symona,
Thanks for commenting! I took a sunset and pasted in the bird, then adjusted the gradient on the bird to match the sunset. Then extended the canvas downward and pasted another copy of the entire picture on the extended canvas and flipped it vertically (edit, transform, flip vertical in PS3). Finally I cropped and added a slight ocean ripple from the filter menu for the lower portion and dodged/burned the horizon line. Hey, thanks for asking! I have certainly learned a lot from this class.

Response 2:Thank you guys for the kind comments. I was really pleased with the HDR process, so much so I blew this up to a 16x20 and put it on my wall at my office. I really want to go back to this place and do some more exposures on some of the other antique things there to do more HDR. Again, thanks for taking the time.
