    Lesson 1: Camera Set-up, ISOs (noise? What noise?!!), and Cool Features
    Getting into the settings that most people find immediately useful to get you up and running and using the D3/D700! You’ll also learn about excellent new creative menu options. We’ll cover the new advanced higher ISOs and when to use them.
    Assignment: Custom settings and ISO comparisons
    Lesson 2:  Nailing White Balance (WB) Once and For All!
    Learning to set various white balances and when to use them. Setting the white balance in mixed light situations.
    Assignment: Shooting and adjusting white balance in different lighting situations.
    Lesson 3: Shooting modes, Repeating Flash, Cool Stuff in the Retouch Menu!
    Learn the characteristics of the shooting modes and when to use them. Which mode is best for panning? Landscapes? Candid photography? Is there a good time to use Program mode? Is it ever best to let the camera do everything??
    Assignment: Learn manual, aperture priority, shutter priority, and program modes. Learn how to get perfect sharpness in appropriate situations using Hyperfocal focusing.
    Lesson 4: Let’s Get Creative: Multiple Exposures, Image Overlay, and "My Menu"
    You’ll learn the very cool joy of being able to create in camera multiple exposures and in camera image overlays. And you’ll learn how to customize and configure your "My Menu" custom menu to speed up your shooting workflow.
    Assignment: Getting creative with the D3/D700's great features!

    • Either a Nikon D700 or a D3 would be nice!!
    • A working knowledge of basic camera controls and some shooting experience.
    • You’ll need photo editing software that is current enough to process the D3 or D700 files. Make sure your editing software is up to date. Updates are available on the software’s Web site.



    Can I take this class even if I don't own one of these cameras?
    Yes. The lessons and assignments are geared toward current owners, but anyone with an interest in either the Nikon D3 or the Nikon D700 is welcome! 

    Do I need any special imaging software to take this class?
    You'll need an image editing software program that can process D3 or D700 files. Incidentally, Adobe Camera Raw updates - for later versions of Photoshop and Elements - support the D3/D700.  

    What about skill level. These are high-end cameras, and I don't want to be lost just because I'm not a pro.
    Don't worry! For this course, all you need is a basic working knowledge of camera controls and some shooting experience. 

    I have a Nikon D3S. Can I benefit from this course?
    Yes, indeed! Although the course material applies to the D3 and D700, most of the concepts, modes and functions also apply to the D3s. However, questions may come up that are specific to the D3S, so feel free to ask the instructor. Tony is very knowledgeable about all of Nikon's pro DSLRs and will be happy to help you.
