Week 1:  Inspiring Compositions: Make Your Images Go from OK to Outstanding!
How and why to change your point of view  - think differently, shoot differently.
Improve your skills: using a detail to exemplify an overall view.
From the smallest details to iconic scenes ... what makes a good subject?
How to have it all: Vertical and  horizontal
Assignment:  Getting creative results from your compositions. 

Week 2:  Understanding Light
Time of day, and light and shadow.
Shadows can be your new best friend: Enjoying midday light.
Making a choice: Morning or night
Tea time with Denise: Let's sit down and have a little chat about ISO and getting a good sharp photo.
Revisiting for a ReDo: Getting consistently good shots with changing light.
Don't leave home without it: Bring your camera everywhere.
Assignment: Shoot in different kinds of light and say which kind of light you like best.

Week 3:  Adding Life and Inspiration by Using People
Adding movement without adding blur.
Adding a splash of color.
Outdoor portraits: Candid shots and posed images.
Assignment: Shoot a series of images while using people in different ways.

This course is open to any photographer who wants to improve their ability to make better photographs that capture where they are, where they've been, and what they experienced. 

You will need a camera that allows you to control ISO. For lenses, zoom lenses that allow you to get in closer are wonderfully helpful! You will want to be able to capture a variety of compositions, at a variety of distances. 

I love travel photography. I find it actually enhances my present moments and joy during the journey. I notice and appreciate more of my surroundings as I'm looking for images to capture. For these reasons, I am a prolific photographer when I travel, and not so much when I'm at home. You will see most of my photographic examples from my journeys through the US, the UK, and Europe.

But you don't need to travel to make great photos of places. You can create awe-inspiring photos anywhere, without spending the time or expense of travel. You will still be able to capture a gorgeous, impactful collection of photos, even if you don't venture farther than your own backyard!

You do not need to go on a trip to take this class. It would be best to go out and create new work based on each homework assignment. But if you need to, you can submit previously created work.
