FAQ
Top
Is this course intended only for beginning, intermediate, or advanced photographers?
This course is open to any photographer - from beginner to pro - who has always wanted to make beautiful black and white prints, without the "smell, mess and clean up" often associated with a chemical darkroom.
What about equipment?
A basic camera kit (camera and a 28-80mm lens) will come in handy if you'll want to shoot NEW images. However, each weekly assignment will allow you to
pull material from your existing files.
Also, since this is a course on digital printing, you will need a computer with a photo-imaging software program such as Adobe Photoshop. The course is taught using Photoshop CS2 or greater.
Does it matter if I shoot print film, slide film, or digital?
No. Students can shoot anything - film or digital, color or b&w. And you can scan color or b&w source images from prints, too. Once it's in a digital
format, it doesn't matter.
If you don't use film at all - if you use a digital camera - you should just
shoot "normally" (i.e., in RGB color).
Can I use photo imaging software on our weekly submissions?
It's not a question of CAN, but rather a matter of YOU MUST! However, this is not a class on special effects and the wild graphic creations that one
can create with Photoshop. This class, on the other hand, will explore the art of simple yet stunning black and white print-making via Photoshop.

This is also where you upload your photos to be critiqued by your instructor. The instructors are very punctual and respond quickly.
Will I have access to the instructor to ask questions during the photo course?
