Week 1: Shooting Landscapes, and Organizing Your Nature Photos
The nature photography part of the lesson offers tips and best practices in shooting nature and landscape photos. You will then learn how to manage your growing library of digital nature images using Photoshop痴 Bridge and the Elements Organizer.
Assignment: Implementing your image management system, and providing 5 of your favorite nature photographs for critique.
Week 2: Working with Light, and Working with Photoshop and Elements
You値l learn how to become more aware of different lighting conditions, and how to take advantage of them. In the Photoshop and Elements portion, you値l learn how to become proficient in getting around the Photoshop or Elements windows, palettes, toolboxes, and layers.
Assignment: Provide an image from using layers in Photoshop and Elements, flattening layers, and saving images in JPEG format.
Week 3: Composing Your Images, and Making Color & Tonal Corrections
Nature and landscape composition will be the topic of this weeks lesson. In the Photoshop and Elements portion, you値l learn how to make color and tonal corrections to your nature images.
Assignment: Making color and tonal adjustments using Levels, Curves, Color Balance, Hue/Saturation, and auto controls in Photoshop or Elements.
Week 4: Camera Settings, and Editing Tools & Techniques
You値l start off learning the details of camera settings for nature photos. Finally, you値l learn many editing techniques and tools used in Photoshop and Elements.
Assignment: Providing a before and after versions of an image using the techniques learned in Chapters 3 and 4.

- Adobe Photoshop (CS, CS2, CS3 or earlier versions) or Adobe Elements (versions 4, 5 or 6).

No, the majority of techniques and suggestions are applicable whether you池e using film or digital. However, some of the topics will be specifically targeted for the digital shooter.
How much time will be involved in completing assignments?
You should be able to get through each weeks lessons in a few hours, depending on your familiarity of Photoshop or Elements color/tonal correction and editing techniques.
Do I need to have Photoshop or Elements?
The techniques that I will be demonstrating will be for both Photoshop and Elements. Differences in both image-editing software titles will be illustrated. More recent versions of Photoshop or Elements will be covered.
