Lesson 1: Lens Selection and Focal Length Multiplers
Zoom lenses, Wide-angle lenses, prime lenses, focal length multipliers, Image Stabilizing lenses, macro lenses and teleconverters. With all of these available options, how do you choose? How many lenses do you really need? In this lesson, we will learn all of the details so you can make an informed buying decision.
Assignment: Explore the range of focal lengths in your current camera system by capturing a variety of images.
Lesson 2: ISO Settings and Exposure Modes used by Pros
ISO Settings, Shutter Priority mode, Aperture Priority mode and Manual mode. These are the camera controls that will give you power over your images. In this lesson, we will also study capturing motion in our images and Depth of Field.
Assignment: Work with Shutter and Aperture priority modes, Depth of Field, and motion.
Lesson 3: Gain Control of your Exposure and Metering
In this lesson we will learn to Think Like a camera meter for proper exposure while using Exposure Compensation. We will then discover the 3 Primary Metering modes - Evaluative Metering, Center-Weighted Metering and Spot Metering.
Assignment: Capture several images using the various metering modes on your camera. Submit before-and-after images.
Lesson 4: Auto Bracketing, Histograms, White Balance and Raw Files
In this action-packed lesson, we will explore the tools of the trade. Auto Bracketing, what the Histogram is telling you about your exposure, and White Blance options. And we'll explore the "Why Shoot Raw Files?" question!
Assignment: Work with a scene for auto bracketing, a bright scene for the histogram, and an interior scene for White Balance.

Who is this course designed for?
This class is intended for everyone from the hobbyist to the "intermediate".
I just have the basic "kit lens. Do I need other lenses to take this class?
Absolutely not! You can complete the entire course with a basic kit lens. You will learn important imformation about the features and benefits of additional lenses, so you will be informed when shopping for new lenses for your camera system.
I do not understand the terms Histogram and Raw file. Will I be lost in this class?
Absolutely not! We are going to learn about Histograms and Raw files together - utilizing a very visual easy-to-understand method.
I have some experience shooting in Manual mode and have a basic understanding of shutter speeds and apertures. Will I get anything out of this class, or will it be too basic?
Yes! We are going to break down many important tools that are available to you that pro photographers routinely use. This class is much deeper than just learning Manual mode.
I always shoot in full Automatic or Program mode. Do I need to have previous experience shooting in Manual mode?
No. This class will take you, step by step, through understanding and controlling your camera in Manual mode.
Do I need to have a digital SLR camera?
Yes. In order to take full benfit of this class, a digital SLR is needed.
Do I need anything else?
Yes. A tripod. This is absolutely essential.
Are you going to teach things you can do in Photoshop in this PhotoCourse?
No. This course is not about Photoshop or digital image-editing software.
