One of the ways to make a short person appear taller is to use a wide-angle lens and shoot from a low perspective.

Recently for the palace shoot I do in Venice every year during Carnival, I chose a model with a beautiful purple costume and she happened to be just over five feet tall. The picture you see here makes her look quite a bit taller because I laid on the floor and used a 14mm wide-angle lens. Even a 24mm would have exaggerated her height, but I used the ultra-wide lens so I could include a portion of the stunning ceiling. This was hand held with an ISO of 1000.
