The Bactrian Camel is a two-humped camel that lives in the rocky Gobi desert and the grasslands (steppes) of Asia; these habitats get both very hot and very cold. They have a life span of about 40 years.
The Bactrian Camel's two humps contains fat (and NOT water). The camel can go without food and water for 3 to 4 days. It is well adapted to desert life.
These hardy mammals are an endangered species. Taken at the San Diego Zoo. Editor
