These towering smokestacks stand on the site of the former US Steel Homestead Works steel mills near Pittsburgh. They used to vent heat from red-hot steel ingots waiting to be reshaped in the 45-inch slab mill. They now stand like lonely sentinels at the edge of a parking lot.
The Homestead Works of U.S. Steel, which at one time produced nearly a third of all the steel used in the United States, shut its doors July 25, 1986.
Category -- Digital Darkroom. I applied masks, layers, and many textures. Just having fun.
