“Bricks and Mortar Mosaic” by Steven Lepak.
Gallery Photo

This PS mosaic/composite served as the 5th Grade project for the annual auction to benefit a nearby private grade school. The twenty-nine 5th graders posed and hammed-it-up for a total of about 1,200 candid, low-res images in two sessions utilizing various backgrounds on the school/church property (with an eye toward their use in the mosaic). The 5th graders also did the block letters for the border text which were scanned in and placed individually. The large image is that of the church, constructed in 1915, which is in its last year as a church, with the construction of a much larger, modern building.

The "AndreaMosaic" shareware program was used to produce the mosaic image.

The image was printed at 20 x 30 and framed for the auction. It was nearly the highest bid item as it sold for $2,050 (second only to a complete orthodontia package for one child donated by a parish dentist).
