This red-tailed hawk and its mate have nested in my backyard for three years in a row. The eggs have now hatched and mom and pop are busy feeding the babes. A female mallard duck recently fell victim to the cause. With all the rain lately, the duck was enjoying a swim in a large puddle in the grass, until she fell prey. Duck for breakfast. She must have been a bit desperate to feed them as she let me get pretty close - this image full frame at 200mm.
