I feel that as an photographic artist, I need to be aware of the possibilities around me, and not be limited to a particular subject matter or style. It is amazing what you can shoot within feet of your home.
• Take your camera everywhere, and shoot everything
• Be patient and steady
• Understand that not every shot will be good - learn from the bad ones ...
... just don't let anyone see them!
