My Mini-Pic

Artistic expression has always been an important part of my life. From as far back as I can remember, I was always doing something, from macraming massive wall hangings back in the 60's and 70's , watercolours, jewellery, even a bit of film photography for fun. As my children grew, I filled album after album. My Pentax somehow went the way of the dinosaur, but in late 2010 that I picked up a little Nikon Coolpix 100 and once again started to take photos...but I wanted to play in the Big Kid's sandbox. My Canon was a surprise gift from my 80 year old mom last February. Much of those early photos were documentation...it wasn't until I saw the light that my photos took on that special quality we try to capture. It has been a journey of learning what my camera can do and now what can I do to manipulate what the camera did. Not being particularly adept on the computer, this has been my biggest challenge to date. I believe the universe is unfolding exactly as it should and a series of synchronistic events led me to Phellos, where I am enjoying the tutelage of several master photographers. I enjoy photographing nature and my garden provides the canvas...that said I live in foothills of the Rocky Mountains and despite being a Master Gardener, Mother Nature is a challenge to Calgary gardeners at the best of times...but I have faith. Whenever my camera is around my neck, the universe ALWAYS provides me with a subject for the day.
