I'm a 76 year old woman who can no longer travel extensively, as I once did. I suspect I might be considered a semi-recluse. My family is small--a son and a daughter--and my circle of friends is far away. I have one pet--a hundred pound dog named Sophie, but although she is a loving and spoiled pet at home, she has a bad ha bit of springing at squirrels and birds, dragging me off my feet, so my daughter now walks her.
I have always been interested in photography as a record of places visited and customs observed. I lived in Japan for several years in the 1980's and took many slides. But photography as a devoted hobby wasnt\'t in the cards at that time. Now, retired and with no one to answer to, I am enjoying it completely.
Luckily, I live in SW Washington, one of the most beautiful areas in the United States, and one which, except for the rain rain rain, offers great photographic opportunities. I can drive anywhere and walk about a mile before tiring, and that is enough.
I currently use a Nikon d90 with the two kit lenses, and have just bought a Tokina 11-16 to use for broad landscape and picture telling stories. I have a cheap dolica tripod and am awaiting a manfrotto kit B & H put together.
I have no interest in studio shooting and need to submit a self portrait here but so far I have forgotten to do so...two wildlife refuges have been calling me instead...
