I'm a semi-retired business newspaper editor and freelance writer/editor who took up photography as a serious hobby about 5 years ago. Originally, my goal was to take photos in all Ohio state parks (I'm a huge supporter of state and national parks). Along the way, I developed a passion for macro photos of flowers, and I share my husband Jack's for lighthouses (he's at 171 and counting). That's delayed my Ohio parks quest -- I'm not quite half done now -- but I'll get there eventually!

For the record, I don't diddle around with post-processing much beyond minor sharpening, cropping and perhaps boosting the saturation a bit -- I prefer to show others what I've seen, not what I WISH I'd seen. Besides that, I enjoy entering contests, and most do not permit any changes to the original beyond the basic stuff. That said, though, I love to see all the creative images with all the bells and whistles of filters and effects -- they're truly works of art!

When I'm not behind a camera, I'm a certified volunteer long-term care ombuds[wo]man for the Ohio Department of Aging and a registered "Ohio Ambassador." I love to read whodunits, sip wine (preferably from an Ohio or Pennsylvania winery) and, weather permitting, get outside every morning for a long walk in and around my neighborhood.
