Adrian Gresores
bio

I've dabbled in photography most of my life. I even had a small developing lab (in the laundry room) as a kid. I always thought I had some talent for photography, but never went beyond a very rudimentary point with it. Part of the problem for me was time. I'm a physician with a crazy schedule. However, about a year ago, one of my nurses told me she had taken a course on BetterPhoto.com. Within minutes, I had signed up for a course, and haven't looked back since. I've taken 4 courses so far, and more to come. The Masterpiece Membership has been a lot of fun. I also went to the Summit in Florida. It was amazing, and I can't wait to go to another one. I am sure that without the great instruction and flexibility that BetterPhoto provides, I never would have been able to enjoy what is now an addiction. In a very short time, I can see what a difference BetterPhoto has made.

Photography is a perfect hobby for me. I can do it on my time. I can combine it with travel that I already have planned. And, it's completely portable. Not to mention the great gadgets I can get. I enjoy nature, travel and architecture photography the most, although a really interesting photo of people can trigger my camera sometimes. I'm also very excited about the creativeness that digital photography and Photoshop allow us now.

I'm looking forward to photographing the whole world. It may sound facetious, but there is nowhere I don't want to shoot. Every place has unique places and unique people. I just keep having to buy bigger and bigger memory cards to keep up with it all.

So far, this has purely been a hobby. I'm close to getting up the nerve to at least hang them up in some more public places. I think about selling some, but that still makes me nervous.

By the way, I need to thank my wife and 3 boys for their support (and tolerance) of my obsession.

Thank you for the kind words I have gotten from the many photographers I admire on BetterPhoto. I hope to share much more of this passion with y'all (there's the Texan in me coming out) in the future.

We celebrate Adrian's Second Place award for his image "hollywood bound bw" for the August Mission "Approach, Compliment and Shoot". hollywood bound bw received 27 nominations - congratulations Adrian!

About Adrian's Gear

For those who wonder, I shoot a Nikon D90 (wonderful camera). I'm looking for a cheap D40 now as a backup. I have a variety of lenses: a Nikkor 50mm/1.4, a Sigma 70 - 200/2.8 (my favorite), a Nikkor 17 - 35/2.8, the kit Nikkor 18 - 105/3.5-5.6 VR, and a Tamron 18 - 270/3.5-6.3 VC (newest lens; not too sure about it yet; autofocus not great). I have a Gary Fong lightsphere for my Nikon SB600 flash. I have two bags that I use now: a Lowepro Computrekker Plus and a Domke Medium Shoulder bag. I back everything up on my desktop computer (the files backup daily to a second internal hard drive), my laptop, and an external hard drive; I'd lost files before. I process my photos on Photoshop CS4 with a variety of filters (favorites are Nik Silver Efex Pro, Topaz DeNoise, Topaz Adjust, and Alien Skin Snap Art).
