Aruna Talapatra
bio

What kind of photography do you most enjoy?
I enjoy landscape and travel photography the most.

How long have you been a photographer?
I have been a photographer since Jan. 2008. I used a point and shoot camera before that and always took pictures of family/friends at parties etc. However I got actively involved in photography in Jan 2008 when I purchased my first SLR.

What got you started?
A course with Kerry Drager (Creative Close ups) - this actually was an anniversary present from my husband . I just got hooked after that, both with photography as well as BetterPhoto.com.

What inspires you?
Seeing great images by fellow photographers, BetterPhoto instructors and National Geographic. But most of all it's my husband Nayeem's brutally honest critiques that really inspires me to do better.

What are your photography goals?
Continuous improvement.

How has BetterPhoto helped you attain your goals?
I've learned immensely from BetterPhoto - technical camera details from Tony Sweet, travel photography from Brenda Tharp, the importance of light from Jim Zuckerman, composition from Kerry Drager and above all putting your soul into the picture from William Neill.

We celebrate Aruna's Second Place award for her image "Clearing storm" for the March Mission "Care & Creativity". Clearing storm received 27 nominations - congratulations Aruna!

My Nikon SLR, 18-200mm Nikon lens (always), 50mm portrait lens, memory cards, spare batteries, lens cleaning kit and of course my tripod for razor sharp images.
