What kind of photography do you most enjoy?
The kind of photography and my absolute passion is Nature/Landscape Photography. Our world is simply gorgeous and I want to capture as much of it as I can as it is always changing. The four seasons are something that I love to photograph. I came to Michigan from Florida about 9 yrs ago and I so enjoy watching the seasons change and photographing them.
How long have you been a photographer?
I have been an avid photographer for about 9 yrs now. When my husband and I traveled up here from Florida, it happened to be in October. And after living in Florida for the previous 22 yrs, you could imagine the joy of seeing the colors change before our eyes as we did our driving up here. I would have to say that after that trip I was hooked. I can not take enough photos to satisfy my thirst for capturing the ever changing scenery that this land of ours brings every single day.
What got you started?
I think my family did, unconsciously, many, many years ago. When I was younger our family did a lot of traveling due to my father being in the service. He and my mother would take tons of photos of the family and all. But the scenery behind the majority of those images!! WOW!! I can remember some of our old photos being just breathtakingly beautiful. We went everywhere, from Alaska to the Grand Canyon, Niagara Falls and Hawaii. I had no idea at the time that they were all basically just snapshots of our vacations. I wanted more, I wanted to bottle up all that we saw and cherish it forever. And the only way to do that was to use a camera of course. But at that time, I was not the one with the camera.
What inspires you?
Actually just about anything and everything inspires me. Whether it be a duck on a pond or an absolutely stunning sunset, I like it all. My family and friends are always making fun of me because I carry my camera with me everywhere I go, and I mean everywhere. You never know when you're going to get that one shot, and that one shot that would have gotten away if you didn't have your camera with you.
What are your photography goals?
My goal? I can't say that it is a goal so much as a dream of mine. I would love to have just one (maybe more) of my images published in National Geographic. Ever since I was a young girl (just a couple of years ago), I've always admired the photographers in that magazine and thought that it would be wonderful if millions of people saw the same thing that I did and had the same thoughts that I have had when looking at them. Oh to be a photographer like the person that took this photo or that photo. Oh how I envy them!
How has BetterPhoto helped you attain them?
Every time I come onto BetterPhoto and see all the wonderful photos that other photographers have taken, I push myself a little further and harder to take that special photo that just might be a little better than the ones I just saw on this site. My creative juices start flowing and I get out there and try to achieve that masterpiece image I know I am capable of!!
