bio
I have taken 3 BetterPhoto classes, which I thoroughly enjoyed. I have learned a lot from these classes, because of the wonderful feedback/critiques. I really enjoy nature photography: macro, landscape and I have been actively working on improving my wildlife photography. I have always been interested in nature photography since I got my first SLR in 1978. I'm not really sure what first made me pick up a camera, but since then I've never really put it down. I have always been inspired by the beauty of nature and the natural world. Great photographers like Ansel Adams, John Shaw, and many others have shaped my photographic vision. There was a time when I shelved my "real" photography and used my camera for taking snapshots. All that changed about 3 years ago when, looking to reinvigorate my photography, I joined the Carolinas Nature Photographers Association. By being around people with like minds, I allowed myself to re-connect with my photography and to start sharing it with others, something I had not done for a long time. My goal had always been to make great photographs, like those that inspired me. However, I realized that it is more important to share my photographs with others. This brought me to BetterPhoto and the opportunity to have my photography critiqued by leading professional photographers. ![]() Mary Lou has been a member of BetterPhoto since February 2008.
